Bears beat Kemptville 73’s bringing their streak to six in a row

A 5:3 win over the Kemptville 73’s extended the Bears winning streak to the sixth game in a row. The team won that game however only with a good portion of luck though, as their performance still left much to be desired, particularly during the first two periods of the game. The forwards often appeared to be much too timid to press on, and the defense seemingly had the day off.

Madoka Suzuki “A” skated unopposed by a lone Bears defense man to score a clean short-handed goal at the 16:42 mark in the first period.

Worse, Kemptville actually duplicated this feat all over again with yet another short-handed goal at 5:28 in the second period, shot by Chase Broda. Maybe this daring move finally woke up the Bears to start playing. Justin Trudel, assisted by Stuart Martin and Reid Russett, gave the Bears the much needed break with a goal at 10:48. Brent Broaders achieved the leveling score soon after at 12:53, assisted by Cade Helmer and Ryan Richardson. Kemptville however regained the lead at 13:22 with a goal by Jeff Taylor.

The third period saw a much more pumped Brears team emerging from the locker room, out to turn around their luck and bring about a win. Ryan Richardson scored first at 12:08, assisted by Brent Broaders and Cade Helmer. Helmer also assisted with the next score, shot at 18:44 by Tate Leeson, bringing the Bears to the front. Kemptville did the usual move and took out their goalie, allowing Brent Broaders to fling the puck into the empty net at 19:56, assisted by Justin Trudel and Brendan Dempsey.

Cade Helmers was awarded First Star, Chase Broda (KEM) took Second Star, and Tate Leeson grabbed Third Star of the game.

And remember, the next home game will be played this Sunday at 3:30pm.
