Heritage Perth due for re-branding

Shannon Baillon, Director of Community Services, requested that town council provide pre-budget approval of $40 000 in 2021 to go be earmarked for town rebranding. The current Heritage Perth logo has been in use since 2003 and is very dated in style.  Councillor Cameron pointed out that many people are attached to the fact that Perth is a heritage town, and while a fresh update is due to stay current, it’s important to maintain something that echoes that sentiment. Other councillors chimed in that not all change is progress, and they do wish to ensure that any rebranding does reflect the heritage aspect of our town. Baillon responded affirmatively, stating that council and townspeople will have plenty of opportunity to be involved in the rebranding.  Mayor Fenik noted that attracting new people to Perth is part of economic recovery, and rebranding sends an appealing message that Perth is moving into a more modern age. The town rebranding exercise included images of other recent Lanark and Area municipal brands: Smiths Falls, Frontenac, Carleton Place, and Montague have all taken on fresh new logos in the past few years.  Perth can look forward to a potential new image in 2021.
