May the fork be With You – a truly fun fundraiser for the Falls Food Hub

SUBMITTED

The Table Community Food Centre is excited to announce its first major fundraising event in support of the Falls Food Hub. May the Fork Be With You will put the fund in fundraising with a charity casino, fabulous prizes, delicious fare from local chefs, and a silent auction. It’s all happening on May 4th from 7 to 11pm at the Smiths Falls Legion. Tickets are $100, and participants will receive a $50 charitable donation receipt. Tickets must be purchased online from The Table’s website (https://www.thetablecfc.org/post/may-4th-2024)

All proceeds will go towards the launch of the Falls Food Hub in 2024 . The Hub will use the power of nourishing food to build a healthier more connected Smiths Falls community. It will offer regular meals, instructional programs, and community navigation services to connect people with other helpful resources. The programs and services will complement and extend existing services and not duplicate them. The Hub will be operating out of a soon to be renovated space at 41 Chambers St. In the meantime there is already a weekly Community Lunch at Hanley Hall, serving 80 to 100 lunches a week and providing a much appreciated social opportunity for diverse community members. Food education programs are ongoing including a new session of Budget Bites starting in May.

The Table is actively developing partnerships to develop the Falls Food Hub including various schools, health centres and businesses. Partnerships formed to date include several local restaurants and May the Fork Be With You will feature the delicious food of SIP Bistro, the Station Country Kitchen and Eatery, and The Hub’s own Deryk Coutanche.

The Table would welcome additional event sponsors and donations for the prizes and the auctions.
