Arrests, collisions, impaired driving: Smiths Falls Police reports

Traffic complaint results in impaired charges

On February 25th 2025, the Smiths Falls Police received information of a possible impaired driver. Responding members conducted patrols for the vehicle and the vehicle was located shortly after.

As a result of the investigation the 26 year old Zachery RINGER of Smiths Falls stands charged with operation while impaired (x 1) and operation while impaired -blood alcohol over 80 mg. The accused was later released from custody with conditions. The accused is scheduled to attend court at a later date.

Wanted person located and arrested

On February 25 2025, members of the Smiths Falls Police were on patrol of the downtown area when a wanted subject was observed leaving a local convenience store. The subject was arrested at scene without incident.

34 years Rachel LAMING of Smiths Falls was wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with their probation order (x 6). Upon further investigation, additional charges were added for failing to comply with their probation order conditions (x 4). The accused was later released and is to attend the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Pedestrians suffer minor injuries in parking lot collision

On February 27 2025, the Smiths Falls Police were called to attend the Settler’s Ridge mall for a report of pedestrians struck by a vehicle. Officers attended with Lanark County Paramedic Services. A 30 year old female and a 2 year old were transported by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigation is continuing.

Two arrested after search warrant executed

On February 26 2025, members of the Smiths Falls police executed a search warrant at a local residence in response to allegations of breach of conditions concerning possession of animals.

As a result of the search warrant two subjects were arrested and held in custody. 57 year old Rosemarie KNIGHT stands charged with failing to comply with their release order (x 5). 30 year old Neil TROUSDALE has been charged with disobeying order of court (x 1) and failing to comply with their probation order (x 2). Animals inside the dwelling were turned over to Animal Welfare Service and Smiths Falls By­law officers.

The accused parties were held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

One arrested for assaulting peace officer

On February 21 2025, members of the Smiths Falls Police attended a residence for a request to prevent a breach of peace between two parties. While on scene a male subject became combative with the officer.

As a result of the incident 45 year old Trevor Chambers of Smiths Falls was arrested and charged for assault a peace officer (x 1), resist peace officer (x 1) and failing to comply with probation order (x 1).

The accused was held in custody and awaiting a bail hearing.

The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
