Carole Dufort has informed the Upper Canada District School Board of Trustees that she is resigning from her role as Trustee due to health reasons.

Carole was elected in 2022 in Ward 2, which includes the Lanark Highlands, Perth, Tay Valley Township, Montague, and Drummond/North Elmsley areas. She has been a devoted trustee for the UCDSB ever since, representing the board with integrity and always putting the needs of students at the forefront.

Dufort is a former award-winning educator and principal who has spent her career dedicated to public education. She is also a long-time and steadfast supporter of the UCDSB Champions for Kids Foundation, a charity that helps UCDSB students across the district get involved in activities in their community. Dufort was recently presented with the Heart of a Champion Award from the Foundation.

The Board of Trustees will meet next week to discuss proceeding with an appointment process to fill the now vacant seat. As per the Education Act, the appointment must be completed within 90 days.
