Hometown Happenings Oct. 24 – 26

Carleton Place events

Race Around the Place
Saturday, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. designed to bring people together in celebration of active living, local pride, and small-town charm. Hosted by a dedicated volunteer team, this not-for-profit event features three distances of a half marathon, 10K, and 5K, welcoming everyone from first-time racers to seasoned athletes.

United Cemeteries Tour
Saturday, Oct. 25, 1-2:30 p.m. (same time Sunday) a 90-minute guided walking tour through United Cemeteries. The earliest graves here date to the 1820s, and belong to our communities’ first settlers. Learn local history by meeting those who were here before you and hearing their stories! Tickets are $20 each and available at the Museum or by e-transfer to cpbmuseum@outlook.com. Perth events

Perth Ghost Walk
Friday, Oct.
24, 25, 29, 30, 7 to 8:30 p.m. is the annual event, with tour guide and historian Susan Code McDougall, who will tell some eerie tales of Perth’s past and outline the buildings where ghost sightings have been reported. Perth Ghost Walk starts and ends at Perth Museum. Tickets are $12 and available here.

Trick or Treat in Downtown Perth
Saturday, Oct. 25, 1 to 4 p.m. candy and costume contest. More than 50 businesses will be handing out candy to little monsters and goblins. Stop by Spring on Gore Street to enter the costume contest and a chance to win a $100 gift card. 

Trivia Night
Saturday, Oct. 25, 6 p.m. doors open, 7 p.m. start, at the Perth Civitan Club. BYO snacks. Cash bar. Tickets are $150 per table of 10.

Rideau Ferry events

CC’s Ourdoor Harvest Market
Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CC’s on the Rideau in Rideau Ferry.
Vendors galore at this 6th annual event. Get your Christmas shopping started with everything from beautiful ornaments and decorations, handmade jewelry and crafts, locally sourced and cut charcuterie boards and other wood items, homemade soaps and candles, paintings and art, and baked goods. Entry of $2 goes to Lanark County Interval House and Community Support. Live music by Tom Watson.

Smiths Falls events

Breast Cancer Walk
Thursday, Oct. 23, 6 to 8 p.m. Walking for the Cure in Fall Fashion, hosted by Michele’s Doorway to Splendour, 10 Beckwith St. S. fall fashion show, baked sweet treats, door prizes. Tickets are $25 and available in-store. Proceeds to the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital’s Mammogram Department.

Escape Room at the Library
Friday, Oct. 24 to Oct. 31,
13 Ghosts of Crowley Manor at the Smiths Falls Public Library, 81 Beckwith St. N. – Several time slots each day that you and your friends can sign up for this original escape room that can be enjoyed by families, adults and teens! Kids under 11 can participate as long as they have at least one adult in the group. Registration is required. Must register online. Free event. On this day, the movie Scream will be shown at 5 p.m. This is an interactive movie night event. 

Halloween Town
Saturday, Oct. 25, Lower Reach Park, 2 p.m. Get ready for a full day of frightful fun at Halloween Town featuring a Halloween parade, a spooktacular Kids Dance Party, and lots of unique vendors to browse through. As the sun sets, the thrills turn up, with roaming zombies, tarot readers and surprises around every corner. Join the fun for a hauntingly good time the whole family will love.

Skele-bration Downtown
Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Costume Parade begins at 10 a.m. at the Town Hall Bandstand (77 Beckwith St. N.); Trick or Treating Downtown to follow. Participating businesses will have a Candy Corn in their window. Visit for details: Downtown Smiths Falls

4 Hand Euchre Tournament
Saturday, Oct. 25
, Lower Reach Park at the Kinsmen Pavilion. Register at 12 noon play begins 1 p.m. Maximum of 20 tables first come first served. Canteen available.

Halloween Party (backyard at 20 Elm St. W.)
Saturday Oct. 25, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Adults $10 and kids $5. Costume contest, food, spooky arts table, games, goodie bags and more. 

Anniversary Dinner
Saturday, Oct. 25, 5:30 p.m.
at Westminster Presbyterian Church: Smiths Falls, 11 Church St. Roast beef dinner, tickets $20 in advance only. Reserve your ticket by calling 283-6987 or 283-7527 by Thursday, Oct. 23.

Haunter Heritage House
Saturday, Oct. 25, 7 to 9 p.m.
Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum, 11 Old Slys Rd – $10 per ticket and must be purchased in advance either at the Museum or at Eventbrite

Fall into Music Concert Series,
Sunday, Oct. 26, 2:30 p.m.
Trinity United Church, Smiths Falls, 41 Market St. N. An afternoon of Old Time Country/Gospel Music with Mary’s Merry Minstrels. Advance Tickets $20; $25 at the door; ages 5-16 $10; under five, free.

Legion’s Honours and Awards Ceremony
Sunday, Oct. 26, 1 to 4 p.m.
The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 542, 10099 County Road 10, Westport will host its annual ceremony. Doors open at 1 p.m. Ceremony starts at 2 p.m. Legionnaire of the Year and various other honours and awards will be presented. Light lunch follows the ceremony.
