Fire department responds to a structure fire on Malcolm Street, Almonte

The Mississippi Mills Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Malcolm Street in Almonte just before 6:30 pm May 20th. A quick moving fire spread to two properties causing significant damage. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.

Firefighter’s from Carleton Place and Beckwith supported fire operations with the Almonte and Pakenham Stations. It took about 4 hours to get the fire under control and damage is expected to exceed $750,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information related to this fire is asked to contact Police.
