Golf course gas thefts lead to arrests in Tay Valley Township

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people after a string of gas thefts from a golf course in Tay Valley Township.

The incidents began earlier this spring, with numerous incidents taking place.

On May 12, 2024, shortly after 11:30 p.m., an officer with Lanark OPP observed someone syphoning fuel from golf carts. The person fled on foot as other officers arrived, but was arrested a short time later, along with an individual in a parked vehicle.

John PIGEON, age 34 of Tay Valley Township, has been charged with

  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Chantelle HORSLEY, age 28 of Perth, has been charged with theft under $5000.

Both of the accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 3, 2024.

The earlier thefts of gas remain under investigation. It’s not yet known if this incident is connected to the previous thefts.
