Almonte events

Turtle Painting Workshop
Saturday, Nov. 8, 1 to 4 p.m.
at the J.B. Arts, 64 Mill St., Almonte. Pay what you can between $30 and $50. Hosted by the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust, enjoy a creative and relaxing afternoon as you let your imagination flow in a step-by-step turtle art class. You’ll explore fun techniques with acrylics and take home your own finished piece. No experience necessary, and all materials are provided.

Build a Mountain of Food
Saturday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Jonsson’s Your Independent Grocer. Accepting donations of food and cash in support of the Lanark County Food Bank (The Hunger Stop).

Carleton Place events

Itty Bitty Artshow
Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Carleton Place Arena. More than 50 artists and artisans. Most pieces are around $50. Nothing over $200. Twelve vendors are new to Carleton Place. Sales support local bursaries, the CP Youth Centre and art therapy at Lanark County Interval House. Door prizes. Go. Buy art. Feel virtuous. Free parking.

Mini Makers Crafters Market
Saturday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carleton Place Library. Young entrepreneurs take over the library. Every vendor is age 16 or younger and has spent months creating handmade items, including pottery, jewellery, artwork and baking. Visitors can enter for a door prize sponsored by RONA Carleton Place. Doors open at 10 a.m. sharp. The event is supported through the Town of Carleton Place Community Enrichment Grant and the Recreation and Culture Department.

It’s a Thriftmas Pop-up Sale
Saturday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Museum, 267 Edmund St. this is not the “Junk and Disorderly Sale.” Shop for thrift and vintage items and find unique, affordable and sustainable gifts for everyone on your Christmas list!

Build a Mountain of Food
Saturday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Anderson’s Your Independent Grocer, FreshCo, and Giant Tiger. Collecting food and cash donations in support of the Lanark County Food Bank (The Hunger Stop).

Remembrance Day service
Sunday, Nov. 9, 11 a.m.
the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 207, is hosting its Remembrance Day service at the cenotaph. There will be a luncheon at the legion following the service. All are welcome.

McDonald’s Corners events

MERA Christmas Fair
Saturday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It’s the fun little Christmas show that people flock to from miles around. MERA Schoolhouse, 974 Concession Rd 9A Dalhousie, McDonald’s Corners.

Remembrance Day presentation
Saturday, Nov. 8, 1 to 3 p.m.
the Rideau Lakes Public Library, Elgin Branch, is hosting Master Corporal Christopher Burket, aerospace telecommunications and informations systems technician with the Canadian Forces.

Indigenous Veterans’ Remembrance Day service
Saturday, Nov. 8, 11 a.m. at the Smiths Falls cenotaph at Beckwith Street. All are invited. 

Smiths Falls Civitan Club Craft and Bake Sale
Saturday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Civitan is located on Highway 15 just north of Smiths Falls.

Holly Luncheon
Saturday, Nov. 8, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, at the Trinity United Church 41 Market St. N. Baked goods table, hand knitted and crochet items and a Christmas-themed gift table available.  

Magical Christmas Market (Cordy’s Elf)
Saturday, Nov.
8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Lombardy Fairgrounds, Kelly Road and Highway 15. 

Annual Art Show
