Knife-wielding youth, impaired driver and mischief maker keep Smiths Falls Police on alert

One arrested on mischief charge

On June 28th, 2025. Smiths Falls Police Service received information on a suspect who was being investigated for mischief. Members of the Smiths Falls Police attended the location and arrested the female without incident.

21 year old Natalie BERNHARDT of Smiths Falls stands charged with mischief under $5000 (x1). The accused was later released from custody with conditions.

Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charges

On June 28th, 2025 a member of the Smiths Falls Police Service conducted a traffic stop where the driver was showing signs of erratic driving.

As result of the traffic stop investigation, 18 year old male from Portland stands charged with operation while impaired (x1) and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg (x1). The accused was also charged with multiple provincial driving related offences. The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Youth arrested after brandishing knife in restaurant

On June 30th, 2025 just before 5:00 a.m. Smiths Falls Police Service received information of a male inside a restaurant, wielding a knife. Members of Smiths Falls Police responded to the area immediately. The suspect was located a short distance from the scene and taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation a 15 year old male from Cornwall stands charged with carrying concealed weapon (x1), possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x1) and failing to comply with sentence (x1). The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.
