Perth man charged with child luring following Smiths Falls police investigation

In October 2024, Smiths Falls Police commenced an investigation after receiving a complaint regarding social media messaging of a sexual nature with an adult and a person believed to be under the age of 16 years. The messaging was alleged to have come from a teacher who was teaching at the time at St. Francis De Sales School in Smiths Falls.

Police have concluded their investigation and have arrested and charged 29-year-old Perth resident Peter STRANBERG with one count of child luring contrary to Section 172.1 (1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth August 18th to answer to this charge.

The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
