RIDE program, traffic stops and 9-1-1 calls lead to multiple arrests in Smiths Falls

Smiths Falls Police respond to impaired driving, intimate partner violence, and theft investigations throughout November

RIDE Program leads to arrest for impaired driving

On Novemenr 8th, 2025 members of the Smiths Falls Police conducted a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program where one of the drivers presented with signs of impairment. The driver failed the roadside screening device test and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, 64 year old Peter HEWITT of Smiths Falls stands charged with operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg (x1). The accused was later released with a scheduled court date.

IPV disturbance leads to arrest

On Saturday November 8th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police Service received a 9-1-1 call for an intimate partner violence disturbance inside a residence. Members of the Smiths Falls Police responded to the area to conduct the investigation. Shortly after arrival one suspect was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 36 year old male from Smiths Falls stands charged with obstruct peace officer (x1) and possession of a schedule I substance (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court appearance.

Traffic stop leads to arrest

On November 10th, 2025 members of Smiths Falls Police Service conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was on a court issued conditional sentence order with the condition of house arrest. The driver was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, 56 year old Mark PORTER of Tay Valley was held in custody for a bail court hearing for the allegation of breaching their conditional sentence order. The accused was additionally charged for numerous provincial offences under the highway traffic act.

Assault charges laid after disturbance at a department store

On November 11th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police received information of a customer causing a disturbance inside a department store. Members of the Smiths Falls Police attended the scene to commence the investigation. The suspect was located and arrested at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, 43 year old Jennifer GEM Ml LL of Smiths Falls stands charged with assault peace officer (x1), obstruct peace officer (x1) and causing a disturbance (x1). The accused was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court appearance.

9-1-1 call leads to arrest in IPV investigation

On November 16th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police Service received a 9-1-1 call alerting of an intimate partner violence dispute in progress. Members of the Smiths Falls police responded to the residence to commence the investigation. One suspect was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 21 year old female stands charged with uttering threats (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court appearance.

Wanted suspect arrested from theft investigation

On November 16th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police Service with the assistance of Gananoque Police Service located and arrested a suspect who was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued from a March 2025 theft investigation.

As a result of the investigation, 53 year old Samona-Maria ION of East Gwillimbury stands charged with theft under $5000 (x1) and failing to comply with their undertaking (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court appearance.

Wanted male surrenders to police

On November 18th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police arrested a wanted male who surrendered himself to police without incident. The wanted party had an arrest warrant issued from an August 2025 shoplift investigation.

As a result of the investigation, 42 year old Jason BULLOCK of Smiths Falls stands charged with theft under $5000 (x1) and failing to comply wit their probation order (x1). The accused was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Sexual assault investigation leads to charges

On October 24th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police Service commenced an investigation after receiving information of a possible sexual assault. On November 18th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police located and arrested the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, a 33 year old male from Smiths Falls stands charged with criminal harassment (x2), sexual interference (x1), invitation to sexual touching to person under 16 years of age (x1) and sexual assault (x2). The accused was held in custody for a bail court appearance.

9-1-1 call leads to IPV charges

On November 20th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police received a 9-1-1 call alerting of intimate partner violence dispute in progress. Members o the Smiths Falls Police responded to the scene to start the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 27 year old female from Smiths Falls stands charged with assault (x1) and uttering threats (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court appearance.

The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
