Smiths Falls Police arrests: Shoplifting, mischief, impaired driving and more

Arrest made after report of shoplifting

On March 11th 2025 the Smiths Falls Police Service received information of a potential shoplifter inside a local store. Officers responded to the area and located the suspect in the parking lot of the business. The suspect was arrested at the scene without incident.

As a result of the investigation Alena GROEBNER has been charged with theft under $5000 (x 1). The accused was later released with conditions. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Damaged vehicle leads to mischief charge

On March 11th 2025, members of the Smiths Falls Police responded to a report of mischief outside a local residence. Upon arrival officers commenced their investigation into the damaged property. As a result of the investigation, Dylan RONDEAU was arrested on scene without incident. The accused is charged with mischief under $5000. The accused was later released with conditions and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Multiple charges laid for breaching conditions

On March 12th 20205 the Smiths Falls Police communication centre received information about an unwanted female inside a local residence. Members of the Smiths Falls Police responded to the scene and located the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, Zoe HAMM IL of Smiths Falls stands charged with failing to comply with their probation order (x S). The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Driver arrested after attempting to flee from a traffic stop

On March 13 2025, a member of the Smiths Falls Police Service was on general patrol when they initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle. The vehicle pulled into a residential driveway where the driver exited the vehicle and began to flee from the officer. The suspect was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

As a result of the investigation Jeremy SOLOWJEW of Smiths Falls has been charged with possession of schedule I substance (x 1), possession of a prohibited weapon (x 1), and carrying a concealed weapon (x 1). The accused has also been charged with multiple highway traffic offences, including driving a motor vehicle while under suspension (x 2).

The accused was later released from custody with conditions. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charges.

On March 14th 2025 the Smiths Falls Police received information of a possible impaired driver. Members of the Smiths Falls Police attended the area and initiated a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle.

As a result of the Investigation, the driver Todd MCCARTHY stands charged with operation while impaired (x 1) and operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg (x 1). The accused was later released with conditions.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
