Mayor Shawn Pankow shared several announcements and updates during the Smiths Falls town council meeting Monday night.

He noted that Smiths Falls’ hometown hero, golf champ Brooke Henderson “has been off to a hot start so far in 2022,” with four top-ten finishes already this year. Keep your eyes open for more golfing excellence later this week when Henderson participates in another LPGA tournament in Carlsbad, California.

Mayor Pankow also shared that the Countdown community mosaic public art project by Redefine Art will be getting underway this week. Community members will collaborate to create a pebble mosaic as a memorial for those who have experienced gender-based violence. Upon completion, the pebble mosaic will be permanently installed in Smiths Falls.

On Tuesday evening from 630pm-8pm there will be a virtual forum hosted by Lanark County Interval House for community members who are interested in learning how to create a pebble mosaic. This project is open to anyone, but registration is required. If you are interested in participating in this lasting art project, please visit eventbrite.ca and search for Countdown Project Smiths Falls.
