Stabbing in Carleton Place under investigation

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a serious assault in Carleton Place which left one person with a stab wound.

Officers were called May 12, 2024, around 1:00 p.m., after a male with a stab wound and other injuries was reported at Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital. The 36-year-old male was later transferred to a regional trauma centre for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.

It’s believed the incident took place the same day at a residence on Caldwell Street, where a police presence remains.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lanark Detachment and Lanark OPP Crime Unit, with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit.
