Two males arrested for armed robbery and weapons offences

On Wednesday November 11, 2020 at approximately 7:48 p.m., police received a complaint of an armed robbery reported after the fact. Investigation revealed that two male suspects, Karol KROTKI (20 years old) and Braeden MELDRUM (20 years old), both of Smiths Falls, had met up with a male victim at a predetermined location and time. When the two suspects arrived, a handgun was brandished, the victim was assaulted, threatened, had a sum of money stolen and had his personal property damaged. Police located both suspects a short time later and both were subsequently placed under arrest.

Karol KROTKI stands charged with the following: Robbery with a firearm (jointly), Intimidation (jointly), Mischief under $5000.00, Pointing a firearm, Using a firearm in the commission of an offence and Weapons Dangerous.

Braeden MELDRUM stands charged with the following: Robbery with a firearm (jointly) and Intimidation.

Both were later released by way of an Undertaking and will appear in court at a future date to answer to these charges.
