During Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting, Mayor Fenik bestowed the Perth Medal on Vivian Munro, “a citizen who exemplifies volunteerism.” Vivian Munro has volunteered with Perth Figure Skating for over 35 years, with the Perth Legion, Perth Hospital, fundraises with the Perth Cancer Society, volunteers at a local elementary school, volunteers at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, and with many other organizations and groups. Mayor Fenik presented the award on behalf of the citizens of Perth, adding, “you’re so deserving of this.” Munro accepted the award with a brief thanks, explaining, “I don’t do any of this for recognition, I just enjoy helping others. Thank you very much.”  The town’s website explains that the Perth Medal is awarded by the Mayor annually to a person who has shown the greatest distinction in a number of endeavours to benefit the Perth community as a whole with no monetary gain to themselves. Congratulations to Vivian Munro, and thank you for all you do!
