Gated parking system and $5 daily rate launching June 16 at CPDMH

SUBMITTED

Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) is implementing a new gated paid parking system at the Thomas Cavanagh Emergency Department, featuring card-only payment. This update is part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and ensure a reliable, accessible parking experience for patients and visitors. All revenue collected continues to be reinvested directly into patient care, hospital operations, and facility maintenance, helping ensure that critical services remain available close to home.

“This new system is a vital step in ensuring the long-term sustainability of our hospital and directly supports our commitment to providing high-quality patient care here in Carleton Place,” said Brad Harrington, President & CEO, Mississippi River Health Alliance. “The revenue generated will stay right here in our hospital, helping fund improvements that support the continued delivery of high-quality care across our region.”

As of Monday, June 16, 2025, Emergency Department parking will remain paid, but will now operate in a new gated lot with a modern card-only payment system. The rate will be $5 per 24-hour period (with in-and-out access), and the system will accept credit and debit cards only (no cash).

On the same day, the staff and front visitor lots at CPDMH will also increase to $5/day (upon exit). These lots will continue to operate with coin-based machines until further notice.

The Emergency Department lot is reserved for public use only. Parking is also available at the front of the hospital for patients and visitors. Staff and physicians will continue to use designated staff parking areas.

To ensure a smooth transition, on-site support will be available during the initial launch period, along with clear signage and printed instructions. The parking gate is also equipped with an intercom for assistance if needed.
