Man charged with multiple violent, weapons-related offences following OPP investigation

Lanark OPP has charged an individual with violent, weapons-related offences.

On August 4, 2024, Lanark County OPP began an investigation regarding an ongoing dispute in Drummond-North Elmsley Township.

On August 5, 2024, members of the Lanark County Detachment, the Lanark County Crime Unit, East Region Emergency Response Team and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, executed a warrant on Innisville South.

A 54-year-old male from Drummond-North Elmsley, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
  • Uttering threats- cause death or bodily harm
  • Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence 
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – three counts
  • Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – two counts
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

The accused remains is custody pending a bail hearing.
