Police activity: Arrests for disturbance, fraud and stolen bank card

Disturbance inside residence leads to weapon charges

On January 22nd 2025, the police communications centre received a 9-1-1 call alerting police of an active disturbance inside a residence. Members of the Smiths Falls Police quickly arrived at the location to investigate the disturbance.

As a result of the investigation, a 39 year old male was arrested at the scene. The accused stands charged with causing a disturbance (x1), resist peace officer (x1), careless storage of firearm (x3) and unauthorized possession of fire arm (x4).

The accused was held in custody pending their bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.

Wanted male located and arrested

On January 22nd 2025 the Smiths Falls Police Service attended a residence in an attempt to locate a wanted male.34 year old John CURRAN of Smiths Falls was located and arrested at the scene without incident. The accused was wanted for failing to appear in court for the charge of fraud over $5000 (x1).

The accused was released and scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Arrest made in stolen bank card investigation

On January 19th 2025 the Smiths Falls Police commenced an investigation into a stolen debit card that occurred inside a retail stole. Security footage was reviewed from multiple retail locations and a suspect was identified.

On January 23rd 2025, the suspect surrendered themselves to police. 20 year old female Keira SAUVE of Smiths Falls was arrested and charged for possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x1), theft and use of credit card (x2).

The accused was released from custody with conditions. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth at a later date.
