Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre reopens after water damage
Smiths Falls, ON – The Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre reopens to the public today, Friday, September 12, at 4:00 p.m., following minor water damage earlier this week.
A damaged sprinkler head released approximately 12,000 litres of water onto the second-floor concourse and the ice below. The quick response from the Smiths Falls Fire Department, combined with the efforts of the Town’s Community Services staff, helped limit the damage and allowed repairs to be completed efficiently.
Stephanie Clark, Director of Community Services, thanked both teams for their work. “Their dedication ensured that we could reopen safely and quickly for our residents and user groups,” she said.
The Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre reopening means residents and user groups can return to the facility this afternoon. Regular programs and activities will resume, and the Junior A Bears are scheduled to play at 7:30 p.m. tonight, giving the community a chance to enjoy the ice again.
The Town encourages everyone to visit the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre, now fully operational and ready for public use.
