Smiths Falls’ municipal complex to remain closed until further notice

The Town of Smiths Falls’ Municipal Complex will remain closed until further notice due to the recent increase in active cases in the Leeds Grenville Lanark Public Health Unit (LGLPHU) district. This decision will protect members of the public and staff from the potential spread of COVID-19.

The decision to remain closed was made by CAO Malcolm Morris, in consultation with the Community Emergency Management Coordinator and the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Paula Stewart. The Municipal Complex was closed on Dec. 26, 2020 in response to the province-wide lockdown.

The Smiths Falls’ Emergency Control Group (ECG) will continue to monitor active cases in the LGLPHU region and will provide additional updates as information becomes available.

Municipal staff are available Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. by telephone and email. Staff will facilitate contactless pickup or delivery of dog tags, recycling bins, and building permits. Garbage tags may be purchased at Andress’ Your Independent Grocer.

Water bills, tax bills, and parking tickets can be paid online, at your nearest bank, via mail, or through the black mailbox located the front of the Municipal Complex.

The ECG requests all residents continue to exercise caution and follow directives from the LGLPHU to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
