String of arrests keeps Smiths Falls Police busy with violence, weapons, and impaired charges

Intimate partner violence leads to arrest

On August 26th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police members responded to a residential area after receiving a 9-1-1 call for an active disturbance. Upon arrival, an investigation was commenced and one subject was arrested at the scene without incident.
As a result of the investigation a 29 year old male from Smiths Falls stands charged with assault (x1) in relation to intimate partner violence. The accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.

9-1-1 call leads Smiths Falls Police to arrest

On August 27th, 2025 Smiths Falls Police received a 9-1-1 call for an active intimate partner dispute. The caller was unable to talk freely but a dispute could be overheard on the open phone line. Members of Smiths Falls Police responded to the scene immediately to commence the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 28 year old male from Smiths Falls was arrested at the scene. The accused stands charged with assault (x1) and fail to comply with their probation (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.

Impaired charges laid after traffic stop

On August 31st, 2025 a member of the Smiths Falls Police initiated a traffic stop on a stopped vehicle where the driver was found asleep at the wheel. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation.

As a result of the investigation, 29 year old Wiliam CAMPBELL stands charged with operation while impaired (x1), operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration over 80mg (x1) and possession of a schedule I substance (x1). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.

Multiple weapon charges laid

On August 31st, 2025 Smiths Falls Police received multiple 9-1-1 calls pertaining to an individual running into traffic in the area of Union Street. Members of the Smiths Falls Police attended the area and located the individual. Upon further investigation it was learned that the male had a knife on his person and when questioned the suspect subsequently fled from the officer. The suspect was located shortly after and placed into custody.

As a result of the investigation, 39 year old Cody LASCELLE of Smiths Falls stands charged with carrying concealed weapon (x1), resist peace officer (x1), unauthorized possession of weapon (x1), possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x1), possession of weapon contrary to prohibition order (x2) and failing to comply with their probation order (x2). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.

Robbery charge laid after security guard assaulted

On September 2nd, 2025 Smiths Falls Police responded to a local business after receiving information of a theft in progress. It was learned that the suspect has also bitten the security guard in attempt to evade arrest. Responding officers quickly located the suspect and placed them in custody without further incident.

As a result of the investigation, 25 year old Courtney LAFRANCE of Smiths Falls stands charged for robbery with violence (x1). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.
