At Jan 28’s meeting of Carleton Place Council, Mayor Doug Black presented a certificate of appreciation to Bill Slade, the outgoing chair of the town’s environmental advisory committee. Black provided some relief when he clarified that Slade would still remain an active committee member, who was choosing to pass the reins to Dena Comley in order to focus on climate protection initiatives.

Black gave a detailed accounting of Slade’s many years in volunteer interests ranging from Special Olympics to scuba diving to food banks with a strong and healthy commitment to environmental issues.  He has spent 25 years on the Carleton Place Environmental Advisory committee.  Going forward Slade will help the town integrate climate protection measures with those of Lanark County.  As Black noted “Bill’s work is far from done”.
