This is a reminder that the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), which represents elementary teachers within our board will be holding a one-day strike tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 29.

This means there will be no classes or transportation for any of our Kindergarten to Grade 8 students tomorrow. This includes Grade 7 and Grade 8 students that attend a secondary school or specialized programs, such as ABLE. Classes will resume on Thursday, Jan 30.

Additionally, the UCDSB will be impacted by a rotating ETFO strike on Wednesday, Feb. 5 and a province-wide ETFO strike on Thursday, Feb.6 if an agreement is not reached at the central bargaining table. This means, there will be no classes or transportation for any of our Kindergarten to Grade 8 students on February 5 or February 6.

Please make alternative child care arrangements and do not send your child to school on these days. If you use a child care facility within one of our schools, contact your care provider directly with questions.

Classes and transportation for students in Grade 9 to 12 will not be impacted. All classes, exams and planned activities will proceed as usual for these students.

Lastly, please also note that Friday, Jan.31 is a scheduled PA day. There will be no classes for any students on this day.

We will continue to communicate any changes or additional labour-related updates via email, the UCDSB website and social media.
