Perth Chamber of Commerce shifts annual business awards to Port Elmsley Drive-In Sept. 25

The Perth & District Chamber of Commerce has transitioned the annual Business Awards of Excellence from a sit-down dinner to a drive-in experience at the Port Elmsley Drive-in on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020. This year’s event will feature a movie experience that will showcase the Perth and area business nominees and awards sponsors in a fun and interactive way.

“We really tried to think outside the box for this one,” said Perth & District Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Amber Hall. “The Chamber’s annual business awards banquet is a popular event in our community, and we wanted to ensure this year we were able to continue to recognize our business achievements despite COVID-19.”

Award categories for 2020 include Business of the Year, sponsored by A&B Ford; Entrepreneur of the Year, sponsored by Valley Heartland; Employee/Team of the Year, People’s Choice Award, and the new Breakthrough Award sponsored by the Perth & District Chamber of Commerce.

The Breakthrough Award is a special award not always presented that recognized an extraordinary local business or individual accomplishing extraordinary things which benefit their business and the community in unique and meaningful ways. Criteria for the award include going above and beyond while significantly improving and adapting their business during COVID-19 in a way that impacts the community and creates meaningful new opportunities for business.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and the 2020 awards event will showcase the business nominees and award winners in a story-telling movie by videographer Ben Hemmings. The awards are followed up with a fun game of Car Bingo (with prizes) and a featured family friendly movie of The Blindside with Oscar winner Sandra Bullock. All this and popcorn, refreshments, and a goody bag to complete your evening of entertainment.

“We’re pleased to have partnered with Ben Hemming’s Media to create a video for this year’s event,” said Hall. “This event promises to be a fun evening out while celebrating the local businesses community at a time when COVID-19 has severely impacted their efforts.”

Tickets are $30 each or $100 for four tickets. To purchase tickets, please visit http://members.perthchamber.com/events/details/2020-annual-business-awards-116. Tickets will be available for purchase until 12 p.m. on September 23rd.
